The CWI Equity Summit 2022 The Intersection of Age, Race & Gender
The Center for Workforce Inclusion (CWI) is proud to announce our inaugural Equity Summit being held at the National Press Club on September 19, 2022. The Equity Summit is focused exclusively on equitable economic opportunity for older workers regardless of age, race, or gender. Older workers, especially those living in historically marginalized communities, are too often left behind by current workforce development programs. Ninety percent (90%) of skills training programs are unavailable to older workers and/or targeted toward students and younger workers. The Center for Workforce Inclusion and our sister organization, CWI Labs, are determined to change that statistic and dispel the bias that exists around older workers.
This Equity Summit will host decision-makers, influencers, employers, policymakers, and practitioners as we discuss equitable economic opportunity for older job seekers, specifically women of color. Why are we focusing on older women? Forty percent (40%) of the projected increase in the labor force over the next 30 years will consist of women age 55 and older while the share of the labor force represented by people of color will increase by 8 percentage points. This year’s Summit includes:
- The release of the American Workforce Coalition 2022 Older Worker Report. Authored by Julia Pollak, ZipRecruiter’s Chief Economist, this groundbreaking report examines the intersection of age, race, and gender as it pertains to older, female workers.
- Panel discussions where decision-makers, influencers, employers, policymakers, and practitioners address solutions to systemic ageism, racism, and sexism.
- Opportunities to network with leaders committed to advancing equitable economic opportunity.
