Experienced Services Program (ESP) National Park Service (NPS)

Location: Remote Position

The Center for Workforce Inclusion is recruiting for a Conservation/Climate Change Planner position in the National Park Service’s (NPS) Experienced Services Program (ESP).  The program is designed to connect experienced workers, age 55 or older, with fulfilling and challenging opportunities at national parks and program offices that protect, conserve, and preserve our nation’s valuable natural, cultural, historical, and recreational resources.

This is a flexible remote position that will assist the NPS-Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance Program in developing and implementing a climate adaptation service. This position will also provide planning and staff support to the Conservation Steering Team.

Support the National Program Manager in developing a climate adaptation service strategy.

This involves:

  • Research, writing, and interviewing to develop case studies, narratives, and strategies.
  • Develop a menu of climate change strategies, tools, and examples.
  • Help establish a digital library of conservation and climate change resources.

Support the work of the Conservation and Green Infrastructure Work Group by staffing the team (e.g., note-taking, researching, writing) and assist in implementing specific strategies of the team’s work plan. This includes but not limited to:

  • Outreach to potential partners and explore opportunities to collaborate.
  • Assist in identifying professional development opportunities.
  • Identify and compile references and tools.
  • Evolve communication products that convey our conservation services.

The successful candidate must be highly collaborative and a self-starter, age 55 or older; possess a bachelor’s degree (masters preferred) in a relevant field; 10 years of related experience; skilled with group and meeting facilitation; background in conservation and specific experience with climate change strategies; access to a personal computer and reliable Wi-Fi for video conferencing that supports using MS Teams is required (work-from-home position); proficient in MS Office products.

Part‐time position working an average of 24 hours per week @ $50.00 per hour.
