Experienced Services Program – U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service

Location: Pinetop-Lakeside, Arizona

The Center for Workforce Inclusion is recruiting for a Construction Inspection position in the U. S. Fish & Wildlife Service (FWS) Experienced Services Program (ESP).  The program connects experienced workers, age 55 or older, with fulfilling and challenging opportunities to provide expertise, technical assistance, and other work in support of Service programs and regions.

The Construction Inspector position is located at the Williams Creek National Fish Hatchery located in the beautiful White Mountains just outside the town of Pinetop-Lakeside, Arizona.

With direction of the Project Manager this position provides oversight of construction contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers performance to ensure compliance with the specifications, plans or drawings, labor standard provision, and other contract requirements.  Duties include:

  • Performs on-site inspections and observations to ensure that all construction activities comply with contract requirements and work is performed in accordance with good construction practices.
  • Verify that materials and equipment incorporated into the project meet contract requirements.
  • Review the contractor’s progress reports to determine if there has been technical and/or physical progress commensurate with the level of expenditures.
  • Advise the Project Manager of any unusual problems affecting the progress and cost of the contract. Prepares daily inspection reports with photos.

The successful candidate must be age 55 or older; completion of training in Construction and Construction Inspection; experienced in performing construction trades and inspecting construction, including foundations, structural, architectural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical; knowledge of building codes; ability to read construction drawings and specifications; proficient in using Email, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams; willing to us his/her own home computer and/or cell phone to record data/take pictures while doing inspection work; access to personal vehicle; current driver’s license.

Part‐time position working an average of 25 hours per week @ $25.00 per hour.
