Lowe’s to Receive The Center for Workforce Inclusion 2023 Workforce Equity Award

The Center for Workforce Inclusion (Center) is thrilled to announce the recipient of their 2023 Workforce Equity Award – Lowe’s Companies, Inc. (Lowe’s). The Center selected Lowe’s for this prestigious award due to its tangible and comprehensive commitment to workforce equity, including diversifying its management team and board of directors, overhauling hiring and promotional standards, and fostering transparent and inclusive decision-making.

The Workforce Equity Award will be presented to Lowe’s at Equity Summit 2023, taking place at the National Press Club and online on October 17th. The Equity Summit is the only national event focused exclusively on advancing the workforce aspirations of older adults through solutions to systemic barriers.

The award ceremony will be followed by a Fireside Chat with Ms. Mims moderated by Angela Beddoe on “The Future is Now: Leading the Workplace of the Future”.

The award will be accepted by Machell Mims, Senior Vice President of Human Resources, at Lowe’s. Ms. Mims is responsible for the HR business partnerships for finance, human resources and legal, with oversight of the HR team serving Lowe’s Bangalore office. She owns the overall talent strategy supporting the development and growth of associates in these organizations, with a focus on building high-performing teams to deliver business results.

Ms. Mims also leads the HR team’s day-to-day operational excellence and continues to press the evolution of HR at Lowe’s. She joined Lowe’s in 2011 and has served in multiple leadership roles. including regional HR director; senior director, supply chain and technology HR business partner; and vice president, HR business partner, supply chain and shared services. She is a member of Lowe’s crisis support team and enterprise risk council, and is on the governing board of the African American Leadership Academy of Charlotte.
